Sound familiar?
The knife bounces off the tomato.
You press down, the skin gives way, and the tomato squashes flat with juice across the board. At the Sunday roast the carving knife saws instead of slices. In plenty of homes, the good knife has not been sharpened in years.
The usual fixes are not great. A whetstone works beautifully if you can hold the same angle stroke after stroke, which most of us cannot. A pull-through sharpener is quick, but its coarse slots can chew the edge. So the knife stays blunt and everyone works around it.
Honeroll takes the skill out of it. The magnet holds the angle, the disc does the work, and you just roll.
How it works
Stick, roll, flip. That is it.
Stick the knife to the block
The magnetic block holds the blade still at a set 15 degree angle, a common angle for kitchen knives.
Roll the diamond disc along the edge
Roll the roller back and forth along the blade, then flip the knife and do the other side. A knife that is only a bit dull needs a handful of rolls; a very blunt one needs more.
Finish with the honing disc
Turn the roller around and give each side a few rolls with the smooth disc to straighten the edge. Then try a tomato.
It sharpens straight-edge kitchen knives. It is not made for serrated bread knives, scissors or ceramic knives, and a badly chipped blade is a job for a professional.

What is in the kit
Two discs, one magnet, no guesswork.
The roller
A roller with a disc on each end: a diamond disc for sharpening and a smooth disc for honing. It rolls on the benchtop, and your hand rests on the roller, not on the blade.
The magnetic angle block
The magnet holds the knife at 15 degrees, the same angle on every pass. That steady angle is the part a whetstone takes years to learn.
The 8000-grit polishing disc
In the Chef set, or as an add-on: a very fine disc that swaps onto the roller, for a smoother, polished finish after sharpening.

The gift Dad actually uses.

Who it is for
For whoever carves the ham.
The Sunday roast carver
He insists on carving. The knife insists on tearing. A few minutes with the roller and the roast comes off in neat slices.
The barbecue boss
The carving knife, the steak knives, the one he uses for everything. Sharpened at the outdoor bench, no stone, no water.
The cook who hates fiddly gadgets
No angle to guess and nothing to set up. Stick, roll, flip, done.
The Christmas gift for Dad or Grandad
Something he will use all year, not another pair of socks. The Gift 2-pack is one for him and one for your own kitchen.

Questions
Straight answers.
Will it work on my knives?
On most straight-edge kitchen knives: chef's knives, carving knives, santoku, paring and utility knives. It is not made for serrated knives such as bread knives, for scissors or for ceramic knives.
What angle does it sharpen at?
The block holds the knife at 15 degrees, a common angle for kitchen knives. It gives most everyday knives a keen edge; very thick or heavy blades may take a few more rolls.
Is it hard to use?
No. Stick the knife to the block, roll the diamond disc along the edge, flip the knife and do the other side, then a few rolls with the honing disc. The magnet holds the angle, so there is nothing to learn.
How often should he sharpen?
For a home cook, a few rolls with the honing disc every couple of weeks keeps the edge going. A proper sharpen with the diamond disc every few months, or whenever the tomato test fails.
What is the difference between the kit, the Chef set and the Gift 2-pack?
The kit is the roller with both discs plus the magnetic angle block, for A$109. The Chef set adds the 8000-grit polishing disc for a finer finish, for A$129. The Gift 2-pack is two kits for A$179, one for Dad and one for you, and you pick the finish of each.
Black or wood?
Same kit, same discs. Black is matte black. Wood has a warm, reddish-brown wood finish on the roller and the block.
Is it safe to use?
Your hand rests on the roller, not on the blade. A freshly sharpened knife is sharp, so hold it by the handle and keep your fingers off the edge when you take it off the block. The block contains a magnet: keep it away from bank cards and from anyone with a pacemaker.
Will it arrive before Christmas?
Order by 5 December for the best chance. It ships within 1‑3 business days and arrives within 8‑14 business days of your order, so that date is our estimate from the carrier's usual times, not a guarantee. You can follow the parcel with the tracking number we email you.
Why does it ship from China?
Our fulfilment partner's warehouse is in China, close to where the kit is made. That keeps the price down. Every parcel is tracked the whole way.
Will I pay customs, duty or GST on delivery?
No. The price at checkout is all you pay. Shipping is free.
What if the knives are not sharper?
Email us within 60 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the kit. We refund the full price and you keep it. If it arrives faulty or damaged, we replace or refund it, as the Australian Consumer Law requires. See the returns and guarantee policy.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, until it ships. Email support@honeroll.com with your order number and we cancel it for a full refund.
How can I pay?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Link, through Stripe's secure checkout. We never see your card number. We do not offer Afterpay at the moment.
Are there reviews?
Not yet. Honeroll is new and we will not invent any. Reviews will appear here once real customers write them, the good and the bad.
Who is behind this
A note from us.
Honeroll is a small brand of Codext GmbH, a company in southern Germany. It started with a familiar Christmas question: what do you get the man who says he does not need anything?
For a lot of families the answer is sitting in the kitchen drawer: a good knife that has not been sharp in years. A sharpener he can use without learning a skill felt like the honest answer, so that is the one thing we sell.
We are new, so here is what we can promise instead of reviews: real specs, honest delivery times, a reply from a real person within one business day, and a guarantee that does not make you post anything back across the world.
If something is not right, write to support@honeroll.com. Codext GmbH, Frankenstraße 10, 74549 Wolpertshausen, Germany. Phone +49 7904 5203106.
